Sean Spicer spoke-out on social media Friday afternoon, just hours after the surprise announcement that he would be stepping-down as White House Press Secretary; giving the Trump administration a “clean slate” as it shakes up its communications team.
Spicer thanked the President and the nation in his first public comments since revealing his departure, saying the US is an “amazing country” and that he would continue to serve as Press Secretary through August.

The senior Trump aide made the stunning announcement early Friday, after news broke that President Trump had hired longtime friend Anthony Scaramucci as White House Communications Director.
Both Trump and Scaramucci had asked Spicer to remain, but the Press Secretary reportedly wanted to give the White House a “clean slate.”
Sean Spicer’s role as Press Secretary has been the subject of speculation for some time, having been sidelined from press briefings and public appearances for weeks. Scaramucci announced Friday that Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be taking over the position when Spicer officially leaves his post.
